Self-publishing on Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) platform?
Whether you’ve been snubbed by the trad publishing industry or you’ve just decided to go your own way, self-publishing on KDP is a great choice. It makes your book available on Amazon – the biggest book marketplace in the world!
Other pluses: your book can be published quickly. The lucky few who actually get their manuscripts accepted by traditional publishers won’t have their books hit the marketplace for about two years. Additionally, you will have complete control over the book you poured blood, sweat and tears into writing. No publishing company will dictate what the cover art will look like, how your book is represented in descriptions and what marketing strategies are used to market your book – if any. (Established best-selling authors tend to get the most attention, while newer authors’ may be neglected.)
So you’ve decided to self-publish on Amazon’s KDP. Smart!
But how (you’re asking yourself) do I do it?
If this is your first time doing so, you will find that the process can be a bit intimidating. There is a lot of new information to take in and questions you need to answer, like:
~What’s an ISBN? Do you take the free one offered on KDP, or buy your own elsewhere?
~Should I copyright my work? How do I do that?
~Do I need my own website?
~do “trim size” and “bleed settings” mean?
~How do I answer the publishing rights question?
Fortunately, I cover all this and more in an online course on Teachable. It’s called How to Self-Publish Your Badass Book on Amazon. From categories to keywords, print options to cover art sizing, eBook formatting to making the most of your Amazon Author Central page, I walk you through the process, to make it faster and easier for you.
How to Self-Publish Your Badass Book on Amazon consists of five video lessons plus downloads. The videos are fun to watch! And, you can watch them again and again (if you want to). You can keep the downloads forever and refer to them with every new book you publish. The longest lesson consists of no-cost and low-cost ways to promote your book, so that readers can find it.
Why did I put this course together?
I’ve self-published a LOT of books using KDP. I made many mistakes – at first. I want to help you avoid making mistakes and get to your goal quicker. Hitting that “publish” button is an exciting moment for any author.
I can help make your self-publishing journey a shorter, more enjoyable one.
